Game Information
Progress through the career mode, where you must complete objectives (such as grind a certain object(s) to jump over large gaps and gain points) to open up further arenas, which there are 7 in all, and once your bored with them, you can make your own in the park editor. The game doesn't use a hard time limit but the so-called "juice meter": it fills up when performing stunts and if it gets empty, the level ends. During the game you level up your character in seven stats, e.g. speed and grinds. The game uses a "learning by doing" approach to this, meaning that the stat improves if you perform the associated actions often enough. There are also five hidden keys in each level which open up new areas within the level.

Each character has a rating in seven different categories, ranging from jump to speed to wallride. By repeatedly performing specific tricks and moves, the relative attributes will gain more character points than other less-used attributes. Continued use of specific moves will thus improve the skill of your chosen skater.
Numerous objectives must be completed in each stage, with points being awarded upon their completion. More points are awarded for the successful completion of harder tasks and by accumulating enough points, successive stages can be unlocked for play. Completion of specific objectives will result in both minor and major alterations to the landscape, which in turn offer new objectives and challenges for the player. Levels feature no time limit, but instead, players must continually fill what's known as the "Juice Meter." Doing tricks fills this meter, however, should it become empty, the game will be over.
Integrated into the game is a park editor, which enables players to design new areas and create specific challenges. A multiplayer mode allows for split-screen, head-to-head competition between two players, while the FreeSkate mode offers access to previously unlocked levels far removed from the strains of the Career mode. The soundtrack features a wealth of talent, with the likes of P.O.D., Saliva, Hoobastank, Black Sheep, Sublime, Pharcyde, Reel Big Fish, Boy Hits Car, Eric B. & Rakim, the Vandals, the Ataris, and Student Rick.
