The characters have the ability to pick up objects (generally boxes) and either put them down to stand on them, or throw them at enemies. Each level is a variation on the jumping theme, with the characters finding a necessary attribute (e.g. a guitar) somewhere in the level. The sixth and final level ends on-stage.

Additional Information

The Blues Brothers, Saturday Night Live skit turned feature film, is now a videogame for the Super NES. You control deadpan musical performers Jake and Elwood as they attempt to escape from an evil jukebox.

Looking cool in their dark suits, dark shades and black hats, the Blues Brothers will journey through sewers, warehouses, stores and the suburbs of a number of large cities (34 in one-player mode and 25 in two-player mode) in order to reach their final destination -- their first paying gig.

In a one-player game you control either or both characters; in the two-player simultaneous game, you and a friend must decide who gets to play which brother. Jake is fast, but a poor jumper, and Elwood can leap very high, but has limited speed. Other activities the characters perform include swimming, throwing each other, riding elevators, climbing stairs, switching electric arcs, walking on ice and, of course, hopping on platforms.

As you make your way through this side-scrolling game, you must ward off a number of enemies, such as dogs, man traps, mosquitoes, lawnmowers, snails and dodo birds. Your primary weapons of choice are records that you can throw and super records, which are especially destructive.

In some areas of the game, you will need to use certain objects such as springs and mushrooms that act as trampolines, and a friendly snake that you can ride and control. To increase the time limit in a level, you'll need to catch an hourglass. Your goal in each level is to reach the large jukebox.
