Game Information

In a small Mexican village, all the mice were enjoying a fiesta until Los Gatos Bandidos, a group of cats, came and kidnapped them all. Only Slowpoke escaped and sent for his cousin, the fastest mouse in Mexico... Speedy Gonzales! Following the trail of the Bandidos, Speedy will enter each level and try to rescue as many mice as possible while chasing after cheese and avoiding natural hazards. Ariba! Ariba! The gameplay in Speedy Gonzales resembles the Sonic the Hedgehog series of games more than anything else. For the most part Speedy will run, run across fields and up slopes and into tunnels. There are also mousetraps which function similarly to Sonic's trampolines and will propel Speedy into the air. Speedy has a short range kick for attacking and can occasionally pick up items and use them at a later time.

Additional Information

Criminal cat gang Los Gatos Bandidos has kidnapped all of Speedy Gonzales's mouse friends and hidden them in various parts of the Cat-Badlands country. Locations include Sleepy Rock, Surely Wood, Fiesta City, Ancient Keep, Snowy Cabins, Galactical Galaxies and Ye Olde Bounty. You must help the fastest mouse in all of Mexico retrieve his buddies from the felonious felines.

You begin each level with a certain number of mice to find. It is not necessary to find every single mouse, but doing so will net you bonus points and extra continues. As you run, jump, kick and search your way through each of the seven levels of play, you must avoid traps and fight bad guys, including end-of-level bosses and archenemies from the cartoon show such as Sylvestor and Robocat. At various points in the game, switches and buttons must be activated to open doors and turn off lasers.

To help you make it through the game, can use mousetraps and other objects to bounce yourself in the air and boots to give you an extra burst of speed. You'll also fly while hanging on to ziplines and after launching yourself from cannons. Pick ups include: cheese, which gives you extra points and bonus lives; magic shoes, which make you run faster; 1-ups, which give you extra lives; hearts, which give you extra energy; clocks, which give you extra time; and Tabasco sauce, which enables you to breathe fire on the Los Gatos Banditos.

You begin this game with three lives and three continues. After you beat a level, you can repeat it as often as you like.
