Game Information

SNES - PGA Tour Golf Box Art Front

PGA Tour Golf introduced many of the conventions commonly seen in the genre since. The three-click control method (the first to start the swing, the second setting power and over-swing, the third setting draw or fade) allowed for a multitude of different shots, and required a sense of timing. Four courses are included, one of them a fantasy 'links' course designed by the programmers. Some of the holes are fiendish, with bunkers, water hazards and trees, and the need to plan strategies to get the best approach to the green. When playing a tournament there are 60 opponents, each representing top US golfers - ten of these appear with tactical advice for each hole.

Additional Information

PGA Tour Golf for the Super Nintendo lets you compete in three tournaments against Craig Stadler, Fuzzy Zoeller, and eight other golf superstars. The tournaments include The Players Championship, the Kemper Open, and the TPC PGA West. The courses you'll play on include the Tournament Players Club at Saw Grass, Ponte Vedra, Florida; the Tournament Players Club at Avenel, Potomac, MD; the
Stadium Course at La Quinta, California; and Eagle Trace at Coral Springs, Florida.

When you begin playing PGA Tour Golf, you must build a character, or you can pick one from the available choices. When you step up to hit the ball, you must consider things
such as which club to use, the strength and direction of the wind, and the distance to the hole. You should try to keep your ball out of sand traps, roughs, and water hazards. Other features in this game include practice modes, multiple viewpoints, punch shots, the ability to put backspin on the ball, a leaderboard, tournament statistics, a qualifying round, and a
special green grid, which lets you view the surface of each green in a detailed manner.
