Additional Information

The Death and Return of Superman is a video game version of two incredibly popular DC comic book series, "The Death of Superman" and "The Reign of the Supermen."

Doomsday, the most powerful foe Superman has ever faced, is trashing Metropolis. As Superman, you must fight your way through a legion of enemies to find him and engage in battle. Doomsday is tough, but so is our hero. Superman can jump, fly, and punch, and he can throw his enemies left, right, and into the background. He also has heat vision and is capable of throwing an earthquake punch, which levels all enemies on the screen.

If Superman loses the battle with Doomsday, the game is over. If Superman puts up a good fight, both he and Doomsday die from a pair of simultaneous punches, but the game continues with you going on to play other characters. The levels following the big battle introduce four new Supermen (Superboy, The Man of Steel, The Cyborg, and The Eradicator), each of them claiming to be the real Superman. Each of these new characters has his own special abilities and powers.

Are any one of these mysterious new Supermen the real Superman? Are Superman and Doomsday really dead? Play this game, which is virtually identical to its Super Nintendo counterpart, to find out.
