Maui Mallard was a duck with nothing left. So he spent his very last dime and flew off to an island to lose himself. He was just a shell of the ducktective he used to be and that was just fine by him. He was all set to cash in his chips, buy the farm, take a dirt nap...well, you get the picture. It was time for him to crawl into a drink with a little umbrella and fade away.
Then she walked in. You know the type, flowing red hair, legs from here to forever and eyes as blue as ice. She said she needed his help. Her island was in danger because someone stole the idol of Shabuhm Shabuhm. If they didn't get it back in three days, the island was going to be destroyed. In all his years as a private ducktective, he had heard it all so he went back to his drink and told her to buzz-off.
That's when she told him about the money. Seems the islanders were pretty wealthy and they were willing to shell out some serious cash for the idol's return. Well nothing can bring you back from the edge like a wad of cash.
