SNES - Frantic Flea Box Art Front

Frantic Flea has the player take control of a flea warrior out to protect his Flea World from an evil race of bugs called the Insideos who are enslaving his friends and family. The gameplay is a side-scroller with six different levels, where the player explores each stage, freeing fellow captive fleas and utilizing weapons and devices to aid in their missions such as the Hoverpod which enables flight and the Stikko which can give the player the ability to climb walls. The graphics are done up in a cartoon-style with over 100 animation frames to give sprites a more fluid life-like feel.

Additional Information

Neither cute nor creepy, Frantic Flea is a graphically challenged game in which players control the title character as he gathers the required number of fleas in each level and delivers them to the exits. When Frantic gets hit by an alien or an electricity-spitting machine, he will lose all his fleas, giving players the laborious task of gathering them again. To vanquish enemies, Frantic is equipped with a frustratingly inept spin-attack. Also exasperating are numerous blind jumps that can result in cheap deaths. With its wacky appearance, minimalistic backgrounds, quirky sound effects and jazzy music, Frantic Flea tries hard to be hip. Unfortunately, it will bug fans of Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim and other superior platformers.
