SNES - World League Soccer Box Art Front

Viewed top-down, the controls involve trapping the ball under your foot, giving you time to prepare passes. Running with the ball is tricky at first, as it doesn't stick to your foot the way it did in contemporary football games. Complex moves such as overhead kicks, back-heels and long-range through-ball passes can be completed with practice.

Additional Information

Sporting an overhead viewpoint similar to World Championship Soccer for the Genesis, World League Soccer is fast, it has a large field, and it has plenty of options, including field surfaces (plastic or wet), 24 teams, wind conditions, and various types of play (league, exhibition, tournament, and practice). However, the ill-advised viewpoint, small characters (as well as a small ball), annoying music, sparse sound effects, and monotonous gameplay spoil the potential enjoyment. Also, despite being overly simplistic (there are no special kicks), the ball handling controls are frustrating.
