Rugby 08 is the 2007 release in the Rugby series by EA Sports. The game allows players to play as many Rugby nations, both major and minor, and includes many tournaments, such as the Rugby World Cup, Tri Nations, Six Nations, Guinness Premiership and Super 14.
Rugby 08 was released prior to the 2007 World Cup in France. New modes include the Rugby World Cup and the World Cup Challenge mode. Other new gameplay features include simplified lineouts and defensive formations.

New to Rugby 08 are authentic defensive formations that allow players to adjust the defense on-the-fly and a layered pick-up-and-play control system for set pieces and drop kicks. Enhanced push and rotation controls allow for greater command in scrums and rucks, a simplified control scheme helps novices make lineout throw-ins, and a new kicking meter has been added for scoring on key penalties and conversions.
Rugby 08 lets gamers take control of Rugby's biggest international superstars like New Zealand's Richie McCaw, England's Mark Cueto, the Aussie Stirling Mortlock, and American sensation Brian Willey. The new World Cup Challenge mode also gives players the ability to re-create, or rewrite, the biggest moments in World Cup history.
