Game Information
Lemmings was one of the most popular computer games of its time, and several gaming magazines gave it some of their highest review scores at the time. The behavior of the creatures in Lemmings is based on the supposed behavior of real lemmings, who by urban legend are believed to go on migrations en masse that eventually lead to disaster. The basic objective of the game is to guide lemmings through a number of obstacles to a designated exit. In order to save the required number of lemmings to win, one must determine how to assign a limited number of eight different skills to specific lemmings that allow the selected lemming to alter the landscape, to affect the behavior of other lemmings, or to clear obstacles in order to create a safe passage for the rest of the lemmings.

lem • mings ('lem-ingz): adorable yet incredibly
stupid furry creatures, lost in a maze of
confusion. Known for walking off cliffs,
wandering aimlessly into dangerous passage-
ways and drowning by the thousands in small
pools of water. Without your help, they have
no chance for survival.
Thousands of LemmingsTM are on the loose,
marching towards extinction unless you can
save them. Without minds of their own, they
are completely helpless, faithfully following
their leader through 100 levels of blazing
fires, endless canyons, deadly tunnels and
ancient ruins.
One thing's for sure: their future lies in your
hands, because beyond every obstacle
awaits certain disaster. Lose one Lemming
and you risk losing them all!
You can command the Lemmings to dig,
climb, tunnel, float and build their way to
safety. But you have to be fast, because
with each moment you hesitate, more
Lemmings may drop from above!
So you better be good. The farther you get,
the faster the Lemmings hurtle towards their
demise. One wrong move by you could wipe
out an entire species!
