Additional Information

NBA In the Zone 99 is the second attempt by the guys at Konami in trying to capture the simulation basketball market on the Nintendo 64. With titles like Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside and NBA Live 99 currently being considered the genre-toppers, the stage is well set for a new genre leader.

As an official product of the NBA, NBA In The Zone features all the NBA teams, statistics for leaders, teams and individual players, individual players pictures and details and even the all star clubs. Modes include Exhibition (general quick play mode), Season (based on the entire NBA season), Playoffs (take your team through the play offs without having to bother with the regular season), All Star (create your own all star teams or choose from the default and take part in the annual contest), 3 Point Shootout (a fun shootout that allows players to choose a shooter and go head-to-head in frenzied competition), Statistics (all the statistics you could possibly want), Schedule and finally Player Edit (jersey, face name, position, height, weight, bandage, abilities etc.).

Options are split up into three types: general, camera and rules. Camera options include selection from seven views, option of viewing the action from the angles reverse view on top of the zoom option from one to a hundred. General options include three to twelve minute quarters, four game levels, replay option and player displays. In terms of rules, the game lets players customize three second violations, five second violations, ten second violations, back court, goal tending, foul out, out of bounds etc.

Players can also call plays on the fly thanks to use of the digital pad and L button in combination to call a variety of eight plays explained by a simple illustration. NBA In The Zone 99 supports memory card and Rumble Pak and allows up to four players simultaneously.
