Based on the original Leaderboard by Access Software, World Class Leaderboard Golf features four different courses, three of which are authentic: Florida's Doral Country Club, Texas' Cypress Creek and Scotland's St. Andrews. The fourth course, entitled the "Gauntlet," was designed to provide a special challenge for seasoned players. Before hitting the links, you can perfect your technique on the practice greens or work on your distance at the driving range.
Each course offers variable weather conditions, trees, lakes and sand traps that threaten your chance at breaking par if you're not prepared. The main view is fixed behind your golfer as you swing using a circular meter to the right of the screen. Holding the button down will cause the meter to rise; release the button to set the power of your swing and press it again to determine accuracy.
Three difficulty levels will not only define how fast the meter rises, but also influence how severely wind, hooks or slices affect the ball. World Class Leaderboard Golf supports up to four players with several game modes designed for multiplayer competition. These include Best Ball (two teams alternate shots), Skins, Texas Scramble (all players hit from the same shot), Fourballs (the scores from two players on a team are combined), Foursomes and Matchplay.
The game also offers a 48-player Tournament, Medal Play and an option to keep score using the Stableford method. This format substitutes points for shots, ranging from five points for an albatross to one point for each bogey. Other notable features include digitized voice clips and sound effects, caddy assistance in selecting clubs, and three different tee positions (front, competition and tournament distance). It should be noted that the game does not include professional golfers or a save option to record statistics.Controls: Gamepad/Joystick
