The children of Metropolis are being kidnapped at a rapid rate, and all evidence points toward the infamous Prankster. This looks like a job for Superman!
In this first 16-bit treatment of the Man of Steel, it's up to you to utilize his superstrength, heat vision, ability to fly and other superhuman powers to their fullest extent as Superman fights his way through five stages of relentless enemies. Most of the action is 2D platform as our hero walks along building tops, dodging and destroying the mechanical threats standing in his way. While his punch packs quite a wallop, some enemies take a few hits to bring down or can be terminated with a devastating sonic punch, which can only be used when his punch meter is at full strength. Occasionally, the situation will call for the Last Son of Krypton to hyper spin his way through a floor to an area below. He will also sometimes take flight and zap any airborne baddies with heat vision.
Besides saving kidnapped children from The Prankster, Superman must also spoil a bank robbery attempt by Metallo and save Lois Lane from Brainiac. In between levels, he'll have to deal with the tricks of Mr. Mxyzptlk as the imp from the 5th Dimension does what he can to make things as hard as possible for the superhero. With all of these challenges, could the Man of Steel have finally met his match? That's a question that only you can answer in Superman.Controls: Gamepad/Joystick | | Released | Jan 01, 1992 | Developer | Sunsoft | Publisher | Sunsoft | Players | 1 | Co-Op | No |
