Super Battletank: War in the Gulf gives video game soldiers a total of ten missions, ranging from reconnaissance to seek-and-destroy to deadly standoffs. You'll battle Soviet-made Mi-24 HIND helicopters, T-72 tanks and SCUD launchers while trying to take out enemy targets such as oil refineries, chemical weapons facilities, tank and troop bunkers, and ammo dumps. At the end of missions three through ten, you must destroy a fortified enemy stronghold in which the enemy attacks in an especially aggressive manner and bursts are fired at you instead of individual shells.
Your view is from a first-person perspective as though you are in the tank looking out. Instrument panels display gun angle, range of enemy, enemy targets remaining, speedometer, fuel gauge, weapons status indicator, shots remaining, damage indicator, message center and more. The message center relays such crucial information as equipment status and communications from headquarters.
Your tank can sustain a maximum of five hits. Types of hits include getting shot by an enemy, driving over mine, and getting hit by an accumulation of shells fired from an enemy stronghold. When your tank is badly damaged, you should head toward an Allied Base for repairs. From time to time, you will also need to replenish your fuel and armaments.Controls: Gamepad/Joystick | | Released | Jan 01, 1992 | Developer | Imagineering | Publisher | Absolute Entertainment | Players | 1 | Co-Op | No |
