You are Abe, a scrawny bug-eyed Mudokon slave, fighting to free your people. For years the Mudokon, along with the nearly extinct Paramites, have been enslaved by the greedy and gluttonous Glukkons. The time has come for a savior to step forward and liberate both races from bondage, and you've been elected. Guide Abe through the Paramonium Temple and light all the Holy Fires to gain the sacred scar -- only then can you become the savior!
Lighting the Holy Fires won't be an easy task; you'll face many enemies and obstacles, but have no weapons to fight with. You'll run a gauntlet of land mines, falling rocks, bloodthirsty bad guys and other deadly perils such as bats and bees. Once you reach the fires you can light them by moving a lever, but finding and getting to them are the real challenges.
The Glukkons include Sligs and Slogs. The Sligs are armored Glukkons with armored pants, machine guns and itchy trigger fingers. Slogs bark, eat live flesh and are the Slig's best friends (and their favorite meal just happens to be Abe). Also watch out for the Paramites. On their own they really aren't a threat, but when they gather in packs they can become vicious.
While you do not have actual weapons, you are far from defenseless. You can avoid, distract, chant, fart and whistle. At times you will stumble across sleeping Sligs, you can sneak past these. Slogs and Paramites can be distracted by a juicy piece of meat. Chanting is a powerful ability that you can use on Sligs. When you encounter one of these armored GlukKons and it is either unaware or cannot reach you, you can begin chanting and take control of his actions (including his machine gun!). Whistling is used when you find other Mudokons (those of your own race). If you whistle the correct password they will help you. Farting is self-explanatory.
Many items are also available to help you along the way, including Story Stones (touch these for clues and other helpful stuff), Chime Locks (chant near these after you learn a song for the level), Tubes (jump into these), Rock Sacks (hit these to get rocks), Meat Sack (hit these to get meat) and Rocks (use these to throw at and blow up mines).
Oddworld Adventures is made for use in the Game Boy, but will also work in the Game Boy Color. Using the Super Game Boy Game Pak you can also play the game on the Super NES. With over 14 different game environments to explore and conquer, you will be challenged to become the savior of all Mudokons.Controls: Gamepad/Joystick Box DescriptionDon't Get Mad.
