Additional Information

Dr. Von Frankenbone went to that great laboratory in the sky many years ago, but Franky, his made-from-body-parts creation, lives on. Unfortunately, he is once again in serious trouble. His home, the late Doctor's castle, is crumbling and in need of repair. To make matters worse, the electric company is harassing the hipster Frankenstein-like monster about a huge, unpaid bill.

Basically, Franky is in desperate need of cash. You must help him find Dr. Von Frankenbone's lost treasure, a golden tablet bearing the lovely visage of Bitsy, Franky's belated main squeeze.

Dr. Franken II begins in the chateau, where local villagers, terrified by the thought of a monster roaming the countryside, have locked him in. As Franky, you must search the chateau for clues to the whereabouts of the lost treasure. Eventually, you must escape the chateau so that you may search the estate grounds, The Village, the depths of the ocean, the pyramids of Egypt, The Garden, The Forest and Sea World. A map of the levels is available in the in game option screen.

Unlike the lumbering Frankenstein monster from the movies, Franky is quite agile. He can run, jump, swim and climb through the many areas and rooms. As he searches for pieces of the lost treasure, villagers, sea turtles, giant spiders, giant bees, flying gargoyles and other creatures will attack. You can ward off the enemies by shooting fireballs at them, and you can find shields for use in protecting yourself. Contact with an enemy or a gaseous bubble will deplete Franky's energy, which is stored in his body in the form of an electrical cell.

In addition to finding pieces of the lost fortune and battling enemies, Franky must find objects for use in unlocking doors, transporting to different areas, removing obstacles, finding hidden rooms and making other objects appear. He can also find objects to repair the recharge machine, which lets him restore his lost energy. This wondrous machine is located in the Electric Room on the ground floor of the chateau.

The manual for Dr. Franken II recommends that you make a map of the game as you go, using the map provided as a template. This will help you keep of the various objects, useful features and rooms. Also helpful is a password feature that enables you to save your progress after you turn off your Game Boy system.
